Tipplers Hub Project
Gold Coast City Council has a vision for the Tipplers Hub to be an eco-focused, family-oriented tourism destination that will be a point of difference to other destinations around the city. It will become a gateway allowing visitors to explore the rest of South Stradbroke Island, one of only 15 sand islands in the world.

South Stradbroke Island has always been a popular holiday destination: it boasts plenty of camping facilities; brilliant fishing; barbecues and picnic tables and a well-stocked kiosk; beautiful flora, cute wildlife; and, of course, its famed surf break.
The Tipplers Hub at South Stradbroke Island is currently undergoing a transformation to ensure it can be sustainably enjoyed by the present community and future generations. Council’s vision is a holistic approach to sustainably preserving South Straddie.
South Stradbroke Island is one of the Gold Coast’s unique holiday and day trip experiences.

For years, Tipplers Hub and the rest of the sand island – including 22 kilometres of breath-taking foreshore – has attracted holiday crowds.
Gold Coast City Council is currently upgrading the Tipplers Hub so it can sustain current and future visitation. But while Council is getting on with the improvements, there’s no reason why visitors can’t enjoy this city jewel right now.
Holidaymakers and visitors can take advantage of:
- Four different island campgrounds, including the Tipplers Hub campground
- The Tipplers Passage with fantastic, sheltered fishing and crabbing
- South Stradbroke Island's awesome surf break and kilometres of ocean front beach
- Barbecues and picnic areas and fully stocked kiosk
- A 'wet area' where BYO alcohol is allowed on shore
In addition, free concerts are held in the People's Park on the first Sunday of each month.
So while Council is getting on with the improvements, catch the water taxi over and get reacquainted with Tipplers Hub.
